01 The problem

Handoff is where editorial time quietly disappears.

When a cut is locked, the project still isn't ready for anyone downstream. Color, online, and sound each need it rebuilt their way — the right sequences, the right exports, the right names, the right folders. So someone sits down and does it by hand: duplicating timelines, stripping effects, renaming, exporting FCP XML and AAF, rendering reference videos.

It is repetitive, easy to get wrong, and the mistakes surface downstream, after the project has already left editorial. CutBridge does this preparation in a structured, repeatable way instead.

02 How it works

From locked cut to finishing-ready, in three steps.

CutBridge runs inside Premiere Pro. It reads your project, prepares what each downstream department needs, and packages the result.

01 — CHECK

Run a timeline check

CutBridge analyzes your project, identifies the role of each sequence, and runs preflight checks — surfacing problems while they are still cheap to fix, before anything leaves editorial.

02 — PREPARE

Prepare the timelines

It generates derivative sequences for each downstream team — grade, online, and sound — built to the form each one expects and ready to export. No manual duplicating or renaming.

03 — PACKAGE

Export and package

It packages the deliverables into a clean, predictable folder structure — interchange files and burn-in references together, with a manifest of exactly what is inside.

03 What it delivers

The package downstream teams expect.

FORMATS

Interchange files

FCP XML, AAF, and EDL — the formats that carry a timeline cleanly into DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools, and other finishing tools.

REFERENCE

Burn-in references

Reference videos with timecode and shot information, so grade, online, and sound are all working from the same cut.

STRUCTURE

Structured delivery

A predictable folder layout and a written manifest. Nothing arrives loose, mislabeled, or open to guesswork.

Inside the panel

A guided workflow, not a wall of buttons.

CutBridge includes a built-in assistant that walks you through each stage of the handoff — what a given department needs, why a check failed, what to send and what to leave out. It stays in the Premiere Pro panel, so you are never breaking focus to look something up.
